Dominique’s application came into God’s Garage via her sister, Darcel. Darcel is in the military and was deployed, so she could not personally help.

Dominique is a single mother of two children and a Navy veteran.  Dominique was living in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. She lost everything. She decided to move to Houston to better her and her children’s lives.  All seemed to be going well until…Hurricane Harvey. Again, she lost everything she owned including her car and home.

Dominique and her children were evacuated to a shelter with over 700 other people. Eventually, Dominique was able to move into a residence, find a job and purchase an older vehicle.  After she made numerous repairs to the vehicle, it ended up dying anyway.

Dominique was working hard to get her life back in order.  She attends school full time, works plus raising her children alone.  She has no family in Houston and has to depend on friends, metro and even her boss to get her to work, school, her children’s school and any other place she may need to go.

Dominique shared that Houston and the surrounding area communities have been so gracious and kind to her. She never expected such or ever experienced such an outpouring of giving. She is definitely is making Texas her home.
